What is the meaning of life?

Quote 16 May 3 notes
When one door closes, another opens; but often we look so long at the closed door that we do not see the one which has been opened for us”
-Helen Keller ♥
—

What are we waiting for? Where are we running to?

This photograph (combined with Keller’s quote) has reminded me of an incredibly overwhelmed feeling I used to get a lot. A feeling of restlessness, a feeling that I could go absolutely anywhere and do absolutely anything but had no idea which direction to head.

I feel like, to an extent, a lot of us have been taught to live in such a way where our freedom has made us into slaves. Many of us (especially in America) live a limitless life without direction.

So even though we’re in the middle of this open, vast field, we may as well be locked behind a door in a dark room because we’re not going to go anywhere in either situation. Yeah, we’ll wander aimlessly through a vast space. Perhaps we’ll see everything there is to see in this field, but we will be missing out on something else we could be doing.

Meanwhile there is a door somewhere that has opened for us, one that will lead us where we need to go if we will simply follow the pathway that comes out of it.

But we’re too focused on our open field. We’re too busy wandering about our freedom without a vision or purpose. We’re too busy trying to make it up and complaining about the self-made limitations of our freedom. We’re too busy wasting the potential of what we were truly made to do and be.

It takes me back to a rather brilliant story. One found in the book of Exodus in which the Israeli slaves had been freed from Egypt. They were promised a land by God and He lead them through the vast desert to get there. The trip should not have taken much time at all but the result ended up being a miserable quest of 40 years.

To them, their door had closed long ago, meanwhile a new path had been given to them but rather than embrace it to the fullest, they drug their feet reluctantly through empty fields. They forgot about their freedom. They rejected their chance.

You’re worth more than a sad story of missed potential. Even now, I’m sure you can think of something you should be pursuing but just haven’t for whatever reason. Get quiet, pray about it, think it over and count the things you have to be thankful for. I promise, it will come to you. The “lightbulb” will go on, even if it’s really dim right now.

Live your life. Every single day. Make it count.

All i can tell to you is just to read this manga, I’m a 300 pound man and this brought me to tears more times than i can count. You just realize that there is an empty void in you heart when you read this and it just simply break you down. It is beautiful, that word alone is the purest form i can explain it as.
